Cookie Policy

1. The short version
Cookies are small text files a website puts on your device. Some are needed to make the site work at all. Others are optional and only used if you agree to them.
Nothing optional runs on this website unless you say yes.
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file stored in your browser when you visit a website. It lets the site remember things between pages and between visits — that you've already dismissed a banner, for example.
The same rules apply to a few similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels. Where this policy says "cookies", it covers those too.
3. Cookies that are always on
These are needed for the website to work properly. They can't be switched off, and under the ePrivacy rules they don't require your consent.

These are set by Shopify, which hosts this website, and by me. None of them are used to build a picture of you or to advertise to you.
4. Cookies that need your permission
These are optional. They only run if you accept them.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site, which pages they read and how they found me. It tells me that the pricing page was read forty times last month. It doesn't tell me who read it, and I don't use it to identify individuals.

- Lasts: up to 24 months
- If you decline: nothing about the site changes for you. I simply see less about how it's being used.
Search performance
Google Search Console shows me which search terms bring people to the site. This works mainly from Google's own data rather than from cookies on your device, but it's listed here for completeness.
5. What I don't do
To be explicit about it:
- No advertising cookies. I don't run ads and I don't sell ad space.
- No third-party tracking pixels. No Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no LinkedIn tag.
- No selling or sharing of anything collected here with data brokers or advertisers.
- No profiling. I don't build a profile of you or make automated decisions about you.
If that ever changes, this page will change first and you'll be asked afresh.
6. Choosing what you allow
When you first visit, a banner appears asking what you're happy with. Nothing optional is set until you choose.
To change your mind, click Cookie preferences in the footer of any page. You can turn optional cookies off again at any time, and it takes effect immediately.
Through your browser, you can block or delete cookies for any website. Every browser handles this differently — look under Settings, then Privacy. Be aware that blocking all cookies will break parts of most websites, including this one.
Opting out of Google Analytics everywhere is possible using Google's browser add-on, available from Google's own website.
7. If you're a client
The website I build for you may use cookies of its own, depending on what it does — a shop, a booking system or an embedded map will each set some.
Your website is yours, and so is responsibility for its cookie notice. As part of every build I set up a cookie banner and a cookie policy page for you, and I'll explain what your site is using and why. If you later add apps or services yourself, those may set cookies too, and it's worth telling me so we can keep your policy accurate.
8. Changes to this policy
If the cookies used on this site change, this page is updated with a new date at the top. Where a change involves a new type of optional cookie, you'll be asked for your consent again.
